We at BASSWOOD BREWING COMPANY make no true claim to actually being a real brewing company, because that would mean we made real money. We can’t stress this is simply not the case. As much as we’d like it to be the case, it just is not. But, we’d love to share it with our friends and believe me we’ve got some friends!

BASSWOOD Brewing Company was created in Scripps Ranch California and co-founded by Marcus Armstrong and Christopher Vaughn.

Marcus and Christopher are two typical guys with a passion for beer and knack for taking things too far. Leave it to these knuckleheads to take a beer drinking obsession and turn it into something larger.

As most guys do, they stopped by their local brew mart, Ballast Point’s Home Brew Mart, to enjoy a beer taster or two. While cracking bad jokes and reciting lines from their favorite comedies, they ogled all the cool home brewing equipment.  Some guys will take the plunge, purchase a small brewing kit, and boil up a few extract batches. They figure that the beer won’t be half bad and it makes for a few fun weekends. You may find these kits for sale on Craigslist (hint, hint). It’s always easier to drink this delicious stuff than spend your weekends cleaning carboys. Then there is a small percentage of us who will keep at this brewing thing day after day. It’s these guys who find the love of the process. It’s not the cleaning, it’s not the bottomless kegs of beer (although that doesn’t suck), it’s the constant search for that perfect beer.

Now this is where it gets interesting...

“Mmm! Beer”, as Homer Simpson said it, there’s nothing quite like it. So what exactly goes into a good beer? Well, the basic ingredients are all relatively the same water, grain, hops, and yeast.

Now, what makes a Micro Brew stand out is in the details... the way it’s processed, the way it’s fermented, the list goes on and on. It is this search that is exciting, but that’s enough about beer basics for now.
